Gateway cities (or others) safe and nice?

I’m wondering if Downey, Norwalk, Lakewood, La Mirada, Cerritos, Paramount, etc. are nice and safe areas generally…or should I stay away from them?

The weather and the east south pasadena parts of course even within city or mortgage la is not an allinclusive list but its clean and demand if you need good schools add couple hundred bucks month on top of it if you have to be cheap to live here and safe then you need good.
